Booted my Linux desktop for the first time in a while, wayland won't start.Sigh.I know I have an "evil" nvidia card, but why the f does this break for no good reasons at regular intervals?I even make sure every kernel update to wait with rebooting until the akmod process has finished. But nope.I know how to fix this, but... Really...

What distribution are you running?I had that ages ago when I still had a desktop and Nvidia card, but not a single time in the past 10 years on integrated graphics

I run Ubuntu flavors on my desktops/laptops, but I do understand this remains an issue with Nvidia's drivers and from what I read, it is their bugs

Don't use wayland. Simple as. First, I'd check to see if ssh works. If that doesn't work, use a boot medium and chroot in and update.

You could also try a different kernel if you have others in grub.

@Humpleupagus @gvs It boots fine, just Wayland won't come up. Well, it does, but I get no video out.And *please* don't start "don't use A, use B!" - the linux community doesn't need that.

Don't start the "Don't start the Don't use A, use B" shit, it makes you sound like faggot. Try using something with x11. You won't have this issue .... or be a nigger. Not my problem. π€·ββοΈ

I read the first sentence as your reply, I see now it was Jan's.@jan why not, running a graphics layer that the closed source driver producer just now starts to offer limited support for is a recipe for disaster. That is the fault of said manufacturer who knew Wayland was going to replace X for many years in advance. We can't hold back new technology because their support is lagging.
