I'm afraid anyone still on Musk's platform is implicitly supporting this vileness:On Sunday, Musk said that "civil war is inevitable" in the UK. False, of course - but it's what he wants.Meanwhile, his AI system Grok claims that Kamala Harris missed the ballot deadline in nine states: Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington. Also false.A billionaire intent on wreaking havoc and installing right-wing extremists around the globe. For a free version of the Washington Post article, go here: https://archive.is/BZk7Y

@johncarlosbaez "I'm afraid anyone still on Musk's platform is implicitly supporting this vileness" Honestly, at this point, it's pretty hard to claim anyone's support is "implicit." I mean, if you're still actively using that site, it can only mean you're ok with what Musk is doing—Or, at least that you care more about personal gratification than you do the harm you're helping Musk to cause.

@aggualaqisaaq - I know a bunch of people who agree with me in a broad way about politics, who disapprove of Musk, yet still stick around on Twitter. They tend to say they need it for professional reasons. I think they believe quitting wouldn't have enough effect to make it worthwhile. But that's the same attitude that makes some people throw litter out their window, or join the ruling party to get ahead in an authoritarian regime. So yes, I think they care more about their personal gratification than the harm they're helping Musk to cause, and they rationalize by saying they're not helping Musk all that much.

To be fair though, "generative AI produces factually incorrect bullshit" isn't really news unless someone's looking for a reason to attack a specific one. It's an inherently unreliable technology for seeking truth. That's why Google ended up just stopping a bunch of queries altogether because for sensitive topics they know they'll get in trouble, but not every platform does the same (but has the same problems)
