@cjd I have a working theory that fits my understanding of human nature and evolution:In my mind, this would be a misdirected in-clan out-clan reflex, where it simply turns out that she has not stopped looking for a mate. Parts of her juvenile self hasn't stopped looking, at least, and obviously her husband is part of the clan, has been for a while, of course. Now, mammalian genetics say clan members are a bad idea to breed with, therefore young women would focus on outsider males from anywhere but the family. As this is not appropriate for a woman in her situation and age, I'm pretty sure I get to call this class of behavior fucking childish, grow up your ovaries woman, shouldn't you have kids starving and/or making a mess all over the place to keep you busy?
