@nachtrabe I get the same results on Linux, stock Google Chrome vs. Brave which is a Chromium respin, which went to a "are you real?" page. Since yandex.ru works on the former I'm guessing it's not on the front end of these browsers.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @nachtrabe Yandex has one of the more aggressive capacha thresholds and I think they block unusual/out of date user agents.

@nachtrabe these days browsers let you specify which DNS to use. That is probably where the difference is.

@hazlin I thought the same. But if it's DNS providers that are doing this that's no less fucked.

@nachtrabe @hazlin It would be strange if a DNS provider was directing "yandex.com" to a real host on the net even if it just immediately hangs up. That costs money for the host, is a hostile act unless there's some arrangement that's been made. Also strange would be doing it for .com but not .ru.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @hazlin Dig-ing and curl-ing I get the same. The remote just terminates the connection after sending http headers.Faking user-agent makes no difference Tried both his provider and google dns

@ThatWouldBeTelling @hazlin Thought about this.why only .com and .ru?You can control .com but not .ruwhy direct to weird servers that hang up immediately?Everyone who wants to look outside announces themselves to you
