       I know the first one is a bull ant, but what kind of bug is the other one? Do you think it will make a colony?(via. https://www.tumblr.com/futurebird/757530521048956929/what-kind-of-queen-is-this?source=share)

       I think I have one of these bugs living in my home as well. This may be urgent.

       @futurebird that's Formica Tuxedofelix, they live in colonies with competing queens. They spend the day gathering glitter balls to line their nests and bits of meat to feed their brood.

       @futurebird don't worry, this species typically likes you better the more you ignore them (as long as they can find sufficient forage)

       @futurebird Ugh. We had an infestation of those around ten years ago. They ruined a bunch of my clothes that were hanging in the closet, as well as half the window screens in the house. Luckily they metamorphosed into a much more mellow, dare I say lazy and even rotund adult stage.

       @futurebird That kind of bug is well known for forming colonies. They have some digging abilities, but does not form elaborate tunnel networks.

       @futurebird Curiously enough, it's hypothesized that some of their most distinctive sounds are to alert the presence of a human.

       @futurebird That's a cant, as in they can't (won't) make a colony.
