OK, so what if I try downloading the mp4 from Vimeo and uploading it directly? (given that uploading the .mkv I got from OBS didn’t work.)

@aral I just opened your post on the Moshidon client, and the preview card is present there as well.Looks like mastodon.social is already on v4.3.0-nightly.2024-08-01, rather than v4.2.10, so preview card support for Vimeo might be forthcoming in the next upgrade‽
