@futurebird I think it's OK that JD Vance had sex with furniture and wrote about it. It's not like he shot a young dog for disobeying him, and wrote about it. Putting too much emphasis on the couch bit distracts the public's attention away from the far more menacing things he's rooting for.

@rubinjoni @futurebird I detest Vance, but the couch thing is a hoax that started as a joke. Someone jokingly suggested he wrote about it in Hillbilly Elegy, citing a page number, and the story took off.

@futurebird @rubinjoni I view it the same way as the Trump’s tiny hands thing.Were I accused of having tiny hands, I’d be like “🤷🏽♂️ so what?” But since Trump’s whole thing is nuclear-waste-level toxic masculinity, he had to fight against that.Likewise, if you accused me of using a couch as a masturbation aid, I’d just roll my eyes. But Vance has aligned himself with the “recreational sex is bad” people, so now he’s on defense.
