Wonder when the folks in the West will catch on that they’re being colonised? Not by some country but by Big Tech—a relative handful of billionaires and their trillion-dollar corporations. You’d think folks who are used to invading other countries, taking their natural resources, and exploiting their people would at least notice when it’s being done back to them. But I guess not. And it’s not like they’re being shy about it either. Heck, at least the Trojans had the decency to hide in a horse.

@aral English commoners were kicked off their land hundreds of years ago. Perhaps you could say we're already colonised and don't see it. Though I'm reluctant to call it by the same word as that used for British imperialism and it's associated atrocities.

@aral I think the "financialization" of capitalism's control of the masses preceded big tech as a colonization. Debt slavery was legalized and enjoys the propaganda cover so effective that taking on debt is commonly regarded as necessary. We are colonial subjects in our own country.

@aral I'm not sure we would notice, it's still the same gang of rampaging rich men looking for something to conquer and subdue and they've been doing it for generations all over the place including to their own people.
