       @Gelatinousrube @RadLola I think it's possible for patterns of sexual interest to evolve over time. I don't understand it personally, but I do think a lot of women in particular don't think critically about being intimately involved with men until they've been married for over a decade and have three kids. Then suddenly it's, "oh wait, I'm actually not into this." Until that point they're just kinda... checking off boxes.

       @GalacticTurtle @Gelatinousrube What you're describing is called "fluidity" by some people and researchers have observed this a thing that occurs in women (and it's apparently absent in men). I don't know whether all women have this potential or only some women

       @RadLola @Gelatinousrube I call it “being brainwashed.” Disengaging with men doesn’t mean becoming sexually intimate with women. But partnership also doesn’t have anything inherently to do with sex. Many women find themselves forming valuable relationships with other women when they are much older that their male-centeredness prevented them from in their younger years.Men are always male-centered. Their sexual interest in women exists comfortably beside hating them or otherwise seeing them as something other than human. So it’s really not surprising at all that sexuality terminology rose to prominence above words that simply describe who you want to build a life with.
