A week ago, a lot of Democrats worried that Vance was an inspired choice for Trump VP. Today, a lot of Democrats worry that Trump will dump Vance and pick someone who isn't a complete freak.

@dangillmor I think the damage has largely been done already. Dumping Vance just weeks after his nomination won't play well with parts of the GOP. At best it will make the Trump ticket look disorganized and rudderless.Trump will not realize the same surge that the Democrats realized when Biden stepped down to give way to the next generation. To say nothing of the fact that he might not be able to dispatch Vance so easily. At the end of the day VP picks can lose races but rarely win then.

@rlounsbury @dangillmor > At the end of the day VP picks can lose races but rarely win then.Classic example is Tom Eagleton, who ruined the campaign for McGovern and handed the presidency to Nixon. All because the dude had some mental health issues.
