I really wish I could get into the habit of journaling. I get caught up in the 'what to use' that I freeze. I just need to accept that what I want doesn't exist and find the one that will fill the gap until the perfect solution is created. What I wish existed:Not Big Tech.Android and Linux compatible with offline ability. Lockable or Encrypted. Allows searchable handwritten entries. Allows voice input with transcribing.Allows typical keyboard entries. Not expensive. Some sort of timeline. I'm currently using Obsidian, which only meets a couple of these criteria. #journal #journaling #diary

@christopher I want something like this too; I've likewise been stuck with Obsidian but have considered writing my own. In addition to the features you mention, I'd want:- OneNote-style notes mixing text, handwriting, and images- Save web pages to your notebook, like what Evernote used to do- Organize by tags instead of folders- Use local AI to tag untagged notes, to save time- A good solution for free automatic sync that isn't Gitmaybe I'll write it someday...

@arnelson @christopher > - A good solution for free automatic sync that isn't Git#Syncthing!!I just use my own shell script and keep my notes in markdown, and edit in $EDITOR (neovim, in my case)My script also manages very basic tagging.
