@Edent A Brooklyn beekeeper had a problem with their honey having a red tint due to their bees going nuts over spilled red soda syrup from some kind of factory or restaurant... I think they fixed it, but bees, including bumbles are very much tempted by sugared drinks.

@Edent Also when ants ingest caffeine it makes them walk faster and they meander less taking more straight paths from one point to another. It's amazing that our neurology can be separated by 100s of millions of years, but there are still these common effects with many drugs.

@futurebird @Edent Could also be that plants select those substances that do work on as many threats as possible.Capsicain is interesting, I think, since it specifically hurts mammals but not birds, by design. A lot of substances do seem to be pretty selective, making caffeine even more interesting.

@Edent There is something very funny and cute to me thinking about little ants wired on caffeine "getting so much done" because ants already *always* run when going from place to place like they are in a hurry. The little type A, task-obsessed creatures probably love it.

@Wikisteff @jannem @Edent It's strange though that people are so terrified of spiders... which mostly aren't all that harmful (with some exceptions) but not as freaked out about being bit by mosquitos. "Would you rather be bitten by a random mosquito or a random spider?"The later is probably less dangerous!
