@trent oh god it could be so much worse. Some poor guy got the same meds I get and was slightly surprised when it turns out it was out of network and the two shots he got cost him 240,000$

@foone Assuming there were other tests... The insurance insists they always do a CT scan because it's cheaper than MRI even though it doesn't actually work for the majority of cases where a doctor ordered the other scan. They'd rather consistently pay for both instead of just the thing the doctor needed.

it turns out my COBRA (which is a pointless organization where you pay them so they can pay your HMO) sent a letter to my HMO saying I intentionally ended coverage as of July 1st.

@foone fun fact: COBRA fine print declares that COBRA is per state. So, if you get COBRA in state 1 as you move to state 2, then you have a baby in state 2 before you realize COBRA stopped covering you when you moved, its a super fun time when the entire uncovered labor&delivery charges hit you.

@foone I was looking in to health insurance for Mexico, and if you're from anywhere else in the world, this is affordable and reasonable, but due to mob plot, if you're from the US, it costs even more than US health insurance and goes through the worst of the worst US health insurance companies. Insurance is a fuck. =(
