My first act as President of the Commonwealth of Australia will be to outlaw the meandering prologue at the start of every business meeting from the non-expert who has nothing valuable to explain other than how anxious they are that this all goes well before they hand over to the actual expert.

The penalty for rescheduling the meeting because the actual expert wasn't available for this timeslot but you wanted to give a speech about how anxious you are anyway, is a violent death in front of your loved ones.

@geordie I attend a weekly meeting with a great solution to this. Chair is an expert. Rarely schedules self to talk. Does talk when expert cancels.

@geordie Please support my rider bill related to wilful ignorance of actual expert's free/busy information.

@geordie why is it traditional to have the non expert in attendance to corral the experts when they should just let the nerds talk. Is it anxiety that nerds cant understand business needs and desired outcomes and need the enlightened hand of an idiot to keep the meeting on track?

@oxyhyxo it's due to a persistent myth that nerds work at an artificially slow pace unless they understand the Business Importance of what they're doing.

@geordie is this like prayers at the start of parliamentary sessions?

@bassthang you wouldn't think prayers at the start of parliamentary sessions could be challenged for a more useless ritual but here we are.
