(course planned have their own issues, i'd support price fixing over necessities and otherwise having a free market). i think the land value tax is a good way to do so because generally land and housing is the highest cost for many people, certainly for me. killing the investment value of simply posessing land and doing nothing with it is a pretty good way of dropping those, it's implementations all tend to work quite well at dropping the cost of living hardso i guess i have the same answer just different primary approach

The only difference of LVT is that you're not taxed for buildings. The point is if the land is valuable and you're not using it, you have to sell it to someone who will. Farming should be done on land that is best suited to farming.

@amerika @dcc @Deplorable_Degenerate @thegreatape @gnarley_boot @andreas taxes aren't the worst here because the oligarchs would rather just pocket the tax money thats mean to actually help things. most recent example to come to mind, major railroad project to connect to europe, (we have to build another line of rails through the baltic states because the local rails are on russian gauge tracks), but oops all of a sudden while the other two countries seem to manage, latvia convenientally lost billions of euros and now they're debating on if we'd even have a station in rīga here. so outside of some small useless local stations it would pass right through the country and we'd pay for it :facepalm_cirno: the land value tax i can see being an improvement over some better rural land but i can see why their avoiding cities (and i assume towns, the translation doesnt show but towns and cities are the same word in latvian usually), because of course you have your absurdly expensive land investments in the city that the oligarchs own, why not just keep those around instead of doing what its actually supposed to help

Speculators are really the winners, of course that means those who are given the right inside information about how the bank and government are going to manipulate the markets next. This is basically arms-length bribery.However, the assets that are best from a speculative perspective have little to no intrinsic value, they're bubbles if not outright Ponzi schemes.
