Is "moxie" even a real thing you can drink? I thought it was a made up word for... spunkiness, or "the spirit of radio" or something.

@Twotired I kind of liked the idea of a state declaring that the liquid form of an abstract concept or emotion was their "state drink" better. Like in NY we could have "endless smugness" be our state beverage

@futurebird One of my fave "old timer" restaurants has Moxie (and diet Moxie) as a thing and yeah people who like it REALLY like it. Not my fave but I can see the appeal.

@futurebird I had an uncle who used to drink root beer because it tasted bad enough that my cousins wouldn't drink it and he'd have the bottle to himself. When they developed a taste for root beer he switched to Moxie. It's pretty powerful stuff, but an acquirable taste.

@futurebird The word "moxie," meaning "spunk" actually traces back to the soda name, which came first, and was advertised as a sort of energy drink of its day. It's not bad. I've had it several times when in Maine. I've had a rum and Moxie at a restaurant in Bar Harbor and enjoyed it.
