Do you prefer Marxism or Humanism? I'm curious: What's your reason for leaning towards one over the other?

@Radical_EgoCom Studying Marxism at the moment. The creative human is the main focus in marx/engels theory. Humanism puts human at the center, where I think she do not belong. We can do better.

@helenaviking Marxism does focus on the role of humans in society, but the idea of the "creative human" as the main focus isn't a central tenet in Marxist theory. The main tenet of Marxist theory is that the history of all of existing societies is the history of class struggles, and that the eventual outcome of these struggles will be a classless society where the means of production are collectively owned.

Marxism, if I have to choose between the two. No deep reason. Humanism just seems kinda wimpy in these latter days, and Marx has style. But I once described my political orientation as "radical neo-Burkean conservo-communard," so you say I'm a bit slippery and "unserious" when it comes to Ist and Ism. These days I'd have to stick nihilist in there somewhere... eudemonic nihilist... or may be just Inhumanist.

@Radical_EgoCom The starting point is the creative human. The societie consist of creative humans. Marx’s conceptualization of ecological crisis, known as the theory of metabolic rift, and the relationship of this to his economic value theory is very interesting. I don't think humanism has any corresponding theory.
