It's funny to me that certain people are concerned about the Fediverse being a predominantly leftist online space when it is literally the only social network about which that is remotely true. Like what is the problem, really? You having trouble hearing conservative viewpoints? I'm not. I'm here because I'm tired of having those viewpoints blasted in my face day in and day out. If you wanna hear conservative viewpoints, you have Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, the Guardian, the NYTimes, WaPo, CNN, Fox News, MSN, The Economist, the Wall Street Journal, Joe Rogan--and that's not even mentioning the fringe right outlets like Breitbart or the Daily Caller or whatever. Plus, you could always just make an alt and consort with the nazis on Truth Social.

The Fediverse is designed to bubble us, making it look like this is some kind of unblemished Blue paradise. You don't even know who you're not allowed to interact with. Depending what instance you join, there's a thriving fascist presence here. We just are kept ignorant of it, by our benevolent overlords. Too dangerous to let us learn of it, because we might think our space isn't safe anymore. Heck, truth.social is a Fediverse instance, they just decided to defederate with everyone, after everyone defederated with them.

@cy Speak for yourself. I'm in my bubble because I like this bubble. I have a rough idea of what other bubbles are out there. My mods and admins are transparent enough. I also have a couple alts in case I want a different vantage point, which is something I encourage everyone on the fediverse to do. If your mods and admins act like overlords then move! Sheesh. So dramatic.

The ones that don't act like overlords, while being overlords, are the ones you have to worry about. The first rule about manipulating people is to make them think it was their idea, and there's nothing uncomfortable about their situation. So thanks for using alts, and I'm sure your particular admins are fine, but fuck you for calling me dramatic. Bubbles are a serious problem. People are losing touch with reality, in increasingly unreconcilable ways, making it even harder for me to ever have any friends.

@SallyStrange I think I have seen the post you might be subposting too, and I immediately had the word "centrist" pop in my head.These people that think "both sides are bad" but then say "both sides should be heard equally something something free speech Blabla debate" ...and then they only amplify right-wing bullshit while STILL complaining about the left...Centrists...or as I call them; fascists that still desperately want to get laid.
