The headline is "Trust in Scottish government lowest since records began". It is bad news that only 49% feel that the Scottish government acts in the nation's long term interest. But the figure for the #UK #government has long been much lower, and is now 21%#Scotland#ScotPol#politics#SocialAttitudes#Westminster #Holyroodhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c80x159nzrjo

@PeternimmoThat this trend picked up during the period of the chaotic Johnson Truss and Sunak "governments" and the Covid 19 pandemic doesn't make sense.

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @Peternimmo The interpolated smooth lines may be misleading here. Looking only at the measured data, indicated by the dots, we can see that trust in UK gov was higher in 2023 than in 2019, when parliament was in meltdown over Brexit and Johnson won the general election. The graph alone tells us nothing about when the improvement occurred. Probably true that more people trusted Sunak than Johnson to govern well.

@drgeraint @PeternimmoIt doesn't matter, unfortunately. The Unionist press here is trumpeting a "collapse" in trust in the "SNP Government" on its front pages.I'm so fed up with their relentless Unionist gaslighting shite.

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious @Peternimmo Just looked at the original source [*]The graph there shows straight line interpolation instead of smooth splines. Not much better, but it implies that the misleading graph in the news report has been produced by the BBC.It might come to nothing, but a complaint might be warranted.* https://www.gov.scot/publications/scottish-social-attitudes-survey-2023-attitudes-government-economy-health-service/pages/4/

@drgeraint @PeternimmoAgreed, but I've stopped complaining to the BBC. It's pointless. This was clearly a coordinated attack on the Scottish Government yesterday across Unionist media. The spin was consistent.

@drgeraint @MadeyeTheCarnaptious thanks for that source. Imho, all online news sites should provide such links
