What does Nikki Haley get for selling her soul? Or any of them up there? I know this is a naive question but what’s the exchange for not being able to look in the mirror? Trips on yachts with other hypocrites? Fancy dinners with other cynical a** kissers? They can’t look their kids in the eye. Seriously, I don’t get people who sell their soul for “power.” They’re already rich most of them. What do they get above what they have already?#politics #humanity

They didn't get rich by not being boundlessly hungry for power. In any case, the rich are often concerned that if they don't get richer, we'll string them up by their entrails for what they've done to get where they are. There's also the massive denial required to hurt that many people and still sleep at night. When it seems like you might be wrong about just getting whatever you want, you'll panic because you want to believe the world is weighted in your favor.I dunno, just rambling.

@CardboardRobot she gets to stay on the path where she has ANY future in politics.

@godofbiscuits Yeah I guess but… Jumping on h*tler’s team just to avoid a real job? Seems like she could leverage being decent and still have a career in politics, or sell something on QVC. I just don’t get what their dream boards look like.

@godofbiscuits I know this is a dumb question, but what does that look like in terms of quality of life? I guess I’m just asking the old “how many yachts can you water ski behind” question, but it’s been a while since asked. :)

@CardboardRobot I have no idea. But a life it politics at that level is about staying in “the game” it seems. The only ones who seem content to get out are the ones who have exhausted term limits as POTUS.

@godofbiscuits Yep, I just don’t get how, say, Giuliani feels like he was better off climbing on that train. He’s ruined like the rest of them, and even the ones doing ok for the moment at best get their fancy food spit on in D.C. as a reward. I just don’t get the appeal of wanting power. Money makes sense to a point but only to a point. Maybe too focused having watched Triangle of Sadness again recently. :)

@CardboardRobot Look up the Concorde fallacy. And don't forget that these people are also capitalists. I don't mean the checkbook, balancesheet, moneychanger capitalists, i mean the capital-D Dogmatic ones. The God the Father, God the Son, God the invisible Hand of the Market Capitalists. They know they're riding everything that lives above the money stuff and you never wanna leave that layer.

@cy Thanks for that. Just rambling here too. Maybe power is just as you suggest based on fear of losing riches and power. I would think they’d just be happy with I dunno, a few times more than they could possibly need. If power is about keeping that, it’s like a defense mechanism out of control. It’s just so nuts to me, like Mickey Mouse chasing the buckets of water around or a cancer.

Or like Disney completely destroying the USA, leaving it a corrupted, lawless tyranny, just so they could keep people from drawing their mouse.

@cy Yeah, but corps are people, right? (Like vampires are people; ever hungry and live forever)
