@futurebird 1/2it's common (at least in the few western USA areas I've lived in) for pottery studios that offer lessons to offer a 25 pound (about 11.36 kg) bag of clay with each month of lessons.before I got good, I got to the point where I would use up 25 pounds of clay in a single day. And I did that 3 to 6 days a week for a few years.

@futurebird A friend from primary school, about 30 (?!) years ago, wanted to say "when pigs fly" but ended up saying "when ducks fly". We teased her for a good while.I always remember that phrase when I think of the original one.

@chu @futurebird I was reviewing with a math class for an end of year assessment, and a student (who was delightful) said, “This test discriminates against people who can’t do math!” (which was, sort of, its job.)

@futurebird HAH!Reminds of me Dad calling something I said an "excuse", and he asked: Do you know the difference between a reason and an excuse?Me: Yeah, if you say it, it's a reason, but if I say it, it's an excuse.Worth the immediate punishment, but it did (later) cause some introspection, and entered his anecdotes as a "wisdom from the mouths of kids" example.
