       Finally finished building a new bike so I can get back into cycling after many years away, and I immediately took it out for a short test ride. Sadly I found my corporeal form is experiencing degraded performance.

       @picnoir It's the 11-speed previous generation, so was surprisingly affordable - about 730 EUR for the full groupset. Previous road bike was a 1998 aluminium Canyon with Dura-Ace - still looks beautiful, but time for a refresh.

       @picnoir overall I got a high end steel frame, ultegra and good (alloy) wheels for a similar price to many new 12-speed 105 bikes, and less than most 105 DI2 bikes. I don't really understand how the bike market got so mad.

       @sanityinc Transmissions prices skyrocketed post-covid due to shortages. They did not move back to their "usual" prices since then.You got a pretty nice deal for your groupset.I bought my current bike from decathlon 850€ early 2019. They sell the exact same bike, same transmission, same frame, slightly different paint job for 1.2k€ these days https://www.decathlon.fr/p/velo-gravel-triban-rc520-gravel-kaki-bicolore-shimano-105/Prices aside, it's a nice build, I love the frame paint :)

       @picnoir My dura ace bike was about 1100 GBP in the late 90s, so the equivalent now might be... maybe 3000?
