@purserj there are possums and they seem vexed about them and trap and kill them as predators. Presumably possums like most herbivores are only as vegetarian as their options and in the absence of lots of fruit and the presence of a clutch of eggs LFG.

@jpm no my point is they have a weird threat model that keeping tigers in the zoo is fine because it’s the zoo but even the zoo is insufficient lockdown for snakes.

@geordie @purserj the possums are introduced brushtail possums from over here. They have no predators, and they cause damage, particularly to infant bird life. There's a whole industry in NZ of using harvested possum hair as an additive in weaving to make extra warm socks, gloves, jumpers, etc. I can confirm its effectiveness - I love my possum-merino socks.
