AFK I have a somewhat strong opinion about things like being a leftie, climate change, vaccinating etc (like i have online)And when I meet new people I often can see them "hear me out" on such topics and almost immediately addapt their opinions to be more aligned with mine or less the opposite but after some talking often the real opinion showsThis gives me the feeling they somehow know the stuff that they are really thinking is not "okay" otherwise they would have started with that

Almost like they're trying to see how far they can go with their words..And at first I let them, try to get an honest opinion from people and when it's just plain racist I call them out on it, big time..It really surprises me what "fucked up" stuff people are really thinking sometimes

@stux Sigh, to them it's not. Don't we understand that some kinds of people are just better suited to.... serve other kinds of people? They're all just happier if they know their place? I mean, it works for *them...*

@stux it's 'easy' to have the correct opinions about a lot of things, especially if they don't affect your direct living conditions. If the political left wants to gain ruling power in the Netherlands it's voters need to let more air into these controversial opinions. Instead of pressing them into your beliefs, find out why they had their own opinionsin the first place. The leftist moral high ground is actually becoming one of its biggest weaknesses.

Just a little example, on the festival I was a while ago I talked with a teacher of a highschoolAt first she seemed okay and we had some good talks but it turned out she didn't "believe" in climate change, she was super anti-vaxination because she knew better, she was a terrible racist who thinks "this is her country" etc etc :amaze: And thats someone who teaches new generations.. :sadlinux: Everyone has right to their opinion but we don't have right to our own facts 🤷

@stux I'm so sad to read this nasty attitude is also in your country. . . living in the US, I thought these shameful ideas were mostly just in my country. I sure hope you don't have a "Convicted Felon" on the horizon as a leader in 🇳🇱 😞

@stux The one tiny positive with the situation in the world now is that people seem to be more open to letting you know what pieces of shit they are.

@stux The covid pandemic was/is particularly revealing in that sense. A pretty good friend of ours who we have known for close to 20 years completely turned "wappie" when the vaccines became available. No clue where it came from, but all of a sudden she was into conspiracies and how the numbers were being manipulated etc. We haven't really talked to her ever since.

@stux Climate change is a scientific re hashing of the rapture and other apocalypse prophecies and every prediction advanced in the mainstream media in my lifetime didn't turn out to be true. How many times do the experts have to be wrong over and over again for us to realize they are full of shit and high on their own farts. Are vaccines perfect, no, but are they better than dying of a deadly disease, sure and I will take them once they are proven to be safe and effective.

@stux This is because people work based on several cognive attitude layers at the same time. The ”group identity” layer does not necessarily have to be based on factual beliefs. But it can, like yours do.
