@kirby @feld @rauschma *Perl> If you disregard a few exceptions, Ruby is fully object oriented, everything is an object and you do all the programming by sending messages to objects. You must think in term of Classes, Objects and Methods. If you don’t like it, better you don’t use this language, then I recommend you use Perl for Unix scripting.

@menherahair @rauschma @kirby Perl was my first *nix language after shell scripting and it taught me a lot even though I barely scratched the surface of what it was capable ofnever did like Python's syntax very muchRuby always intrigued me, and there's so much Ruby code out there it's a good choicePython and Ruby are about the same speed today, right?

@menherahair @rauschma @kirby tbh I *really* like doing little things with Elixir because it has the ability to automatically install all required dependencies (stored in /tmp/ I think?) on the first execution. It just works. The annoying part is how you have to write the code to make it work in the single file -- break it up into one or more modules and then have code outside the modules that executes as your entrypoint. Kinda weird looking but it makes sense.
