You ever have one of those days where you discover that work's u-matic deck is dead, and you're gonna have to lug yours out of storage just to play a u-matic tape?Does that happen to anyone else?

@foone yeah sometimes, happened last time i got a box of moldy umatic and betacam tapes but the cleanup was worth it for all those special effects demos

@foone I think you live fully.Most of us use cars in the last decade, houses from the last 50, clothes from the last 5, computers from the last 3, food from the last year.But some of us are dedicated enough to pick through it all. Consciously and fully.(more earnest than I expected to be on a friday morning tbh. Except maybe the food thing. But if I could get ETA Ripples here easily again I would...)

@foone my dad acquired dozens of empty u-matic cases back in the 90s, and didn't know what to do with them until we worked out that they were a perfect fit for [a small number I forget exactly how many] CD jewel cases. It all still ended up in landfill of course, but a few years later than might have originally.
