I have this really cool coin acceptor unit I ... found... and I keep showing it to my students hoping I'll find the one who wants to make some kind of vending machine for 'zines or math equations or something. They always want to do bake sales to raise money for their clubs and every teacher hates getting stuck on bake sale duty. Let's make a contraption to make money instead. I'll gladly stay after school to do THAT.Hopefully this year I'll find the right kids for the project.

@rossgrady My first vending machine idea was a machine hooked up to a live feed of cats and kittens at a local shelter, and you have to put in quarters to see the cats, you could also give them treats or laser play at a higher fee. The money would go to the shelter and when it's over it prints the shelter number and name of the cat in case you decide to maybe adopt. It'd give the cats more attention and raise a little cash and maybe inspire adoptions.

@sennoma @rossgrady Possibly, but with a physical machine... which could go in various public places people would gather around and make more of an event of it, and encourage each other to keep the feed going to see what the cat does next. It's just more social. An app could be nice, but it's a lower bar to drop in coins than it is to give up your credit card, and frankly it's less expensive for the shelter since there are no processing fees.

@futurebird @rossgrady hm, maybe try "Purrfect Connection Machine". Or just "Purrfect Connection"It doesn't actually vend the cats directly; it connects you to the cats. If you want one you'd need to make an in person trip to a co-operating shelter. So naturally it should display the addresses of the nearest co-operating shelters somewhere convenient.
