@klausfiend@dcerberus.com While I like the premise of the meme this is unfortunately not true and misrepresents what Lego is actually like, image attached is what the police officers look like in one of the more recent police station sets (10278, 2021).Top left is probably supposed to be the police officer from set 612 (1978), however the image used in this meme is actually the Classic Police Officer from Collective Minifigures Series 18 (2018) So ironically, this is actually the most recent minifigure used in the meme.Top right is not a regular police officer, but a police helicopter pilot (set 6539, 1997). That's why they are wearing a helmet.Bottom left is also a helicopter pilot (set 7031, 2003).Bottom right is also not a regular police officer, but an SWAT unit from the Lego City Undercover theme (set 60008, 2013).

@SuperDicq @klausfiend This made me laugh out loud, thank you -- also for the thorough info on the figurines. While funny, I also guessed that the meme is probably overly simplistic. It would probably still be interesting to conduct some in-depth research about how police gets portrayed in toys or other media for children. I bet one could find something interesting there. For example, just the fact that a SWAT team by LEGO exists could tell us something.

@gefeickse@zirk.us @klausfiend@dcerberus.com The SWAT team is from the "Lego City Undercover" theme which co-exists with their GTA inspired video game with the same name. Of course they couldn't let you play as a criminal in a Lego version of GTA so it is about being a cop instead. The set that this specific minifig is from is a museum robbery. Calling in a SWAT team in a situation like seems realistic, right? As for violence, unlike Lego in the past, modern Lego really doesn't make guns anymore except fantasy weapons, Lego City Undercover doesn't have guns. Lego Overwatch is probably the closest we have to Lego guns nowadays, compared to the huge assortment of actual firearms like in the old Wild West themes and such.

@sun @SuperDicq @gefeickse @klausfiend They'd probably still call the SWAT for a large scale bank robbery without any deaths.Anyway, LEGO SWAT teams implies something even more horrifying about the LEGO universe; the existence of LEGO Los Angeles.

@guizzy@shitposter.world @sun@shitposter.world @gefeickse@zirk.us @klausfiend@dcerberus.com Well if you've played Lego City Underground that is pretty much true.
