       @doragasu wtf, it's the receptacle that's supposed to have D+/D- connected on both sides of the connector. The cable having only 2 of them wored instead of all 4 should be perfectly fine and still work no matter which side the plug is plugged in?

       @wolf480pl Would have to read the standard, but I think joining the ends in the receptable is not mandatory. E.g. I have seen cursed USB-C cables that have one function when plugged in one orientation, and a different function when turned 180 deg.

       @ignaloidas @wolf480pl My interpretation is that what is mandatory is that devices operate in both positions, and that shorting the pins is one way of achieving it. But as long as device operates in both positions, I don't think nobody checks if cables are shorted.
