> what's the best non-8bit #BASIC ?Well, #bbcbasic is pretty good! It's open source, multi-platform, highly featured. There are graphics-capable editions, and a console mode edition. On modern platforms it's quite capable of 3D animations and graphically impressive games. And, of course, computation!(As an example, BBC Basic's modern variations can operate on arrays, without needing loops.)https://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/@retroComputing @mhd

@EdS @mhd Sweet memories. In the early 1990s I did some simple programming in BBC Basic on my first computer (1989): the ARM-powered Acorn Archimedes A3000.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acorn_ArchimedesNo hard drive, operating system from ROMs and applications loaded into RAM from floppy disks. I could run desktop publishing software (Impression) on that hardware. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impression_(software)
