This is so weirdTV broadcasting is dead, but people are still TV cucked. They're still cucking their TV to inferior easy interfaces. It's as if the TV gotta be stuck in semi-broadcasting mode. It has to be accessible from a TV remote with an easy interface. It has to be using TV apps as if it was a cable box. It has to use a fucking Chromecast dongle or something to access a selfhosted Plex server through an app. If gaming, it has to be streamed locally or through a console, there is no other possible optionIt's as if connecting a computer to a TV is impossible. No, you gotta bring the laptop on your lap to browse on the couch or get desk cucked to use a computer or get mobile cucked. There is no other possible ways to use a computer, nuh-uh, no siree. The Ryzen 3300U is good enough for emulation up to gamecube / ps2 If I want that. I mostly use it right now as a Kodi streaming box using French and English free IPTV channels. With a VPN service I can also access geoblocked channels like TVA in Canada or if I use a France region VPN tunnel I can access the France.TV add-on in kodi

Taking them apart is a little quirky ( not much documentation online ) but once you figure it out it's not soo bad. Only thing I don't like is NVME expansion slot is locked at Sata 3 bus speeds. and the primary nvme slot is a small drive form factor like the steamdeck uses.

@coolboymew UI is my hill to die on here. the 10ft interface has unique problems that a desktop computer does not solve. steam big picture mode and the steam controller were great attempts at solving this problem, but for non-gaming media there are still holes. interfaces designed for a mouse cursor are unacceptable on a TV, unless you have low standards or its just "in a pinch".

Only thing that sucks is it's limited to 8GB of ram and it's bga soldered memory and 8GB in 2024 is lacking. if it was 16GB this machine would be king. I don't have enough bga rework tools / skills to do that otherwise I would. But for 8GB it does what I need it to do good for low end emulator box and media streaming. If you use it as a steamlink / xbox console streaming machine it makes it a versatile device for the price.

@coolboymew I do this. I have a Windows computer with a HDR 4K monitor, GPU, 2.1 speakers, and two BD-RW drives in my bedroom. The PowerDVD software allows playback of commercial Bluray, although I rarely do that in the modern age of streaming.I used to have a CableCARD TV tuner years ago and still use my old Media Center remote to control volume from my bed.This way I can use the computer to chat or play games and watch/listen to content at the same time.

@coolboymew You can also quite easily find a usb-wireless keyboard for second hand cheaply and operate GNU bash from the comfort of the couch to play whatever video files with mpv.
