       Well this is bonkers?https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-says-foreign-college-graduates-should-automatically-get-green-cards-2024-06-20/Like, that would be an insanely more liberal immigration policy than the US has had in a century. I honestly can't figure what's going on here - is he just saying it situationally? I certainly don't believe he will even try to enact this if elect president, but wow.

       @ZachWeinersmith Trump pretty often just says whatever his audience wants to hear, regardless of whether it matches what he's said before or what he will actually do. In this case, he was talking to a bunch of silicon valley investors, and that's the kind of thing they want to hear, so he said it.

       @ZachWeinersmith For decades the US has interviewed and denied student visas to those deemed to have "immigration tendencies". So would they still do it?But let's be real, in 60 seconds we've both given more thought to the policy than Trump has.

       @ZachWeinersmith He's not a policy guy. This is no better than when he said he'd expand health insurance during the campaign when his administration was planning on gutting it so drastically that even Republicans couldn't pass the cuts.This is a rhetorical maneuver to make it sound like you're being reasonable. Red hats know that immigrants are so stupid none of them could get a degree except by fraud, so they don't see it as conceding their anti-immigration stance.
