I think it would be a great opportunity for Prison Fellowship or other orgs that support people in prison to do a lil fund raiser where they will send the former president a care pack with some of their helpful pamphlets on surviving prison life. (But mostly it'd be about raising money for ordinary prisoners.)Maybe the innocence project could get in on it too, whilst making it clear that "though innocent people sometimes go to prison, guilty people do too"I'd donate.

@nottrobin I'm not a fan of prison at all and I think that most of the people we put there shouldn't be there and should be getting some kind of real help. Every time my mind starts on this particular tangent I stop it. "Compassion is a resource, it *can* be depleted."To be less glib: He's gonna be FINE. He's not going to have trouble getting his meds, or personal hygiene products. He will never be in physical danger, or feeling like he can't tell anyone about abuse. He'll be FIIIIINe

@nottrobin However there is the other side of restorative justice: repairing the damage you have done, if possible. But is this possible if a person refuses to admit they did anything wrong? I don't think it is. So all you have is: protect the community from being harmed again by this person.

@futurebird oh yeah I agree.But restorative justice is also about making amends for the people you've hurt, seeking forgiveness etc.That could be fun

@futurebird no that's true, it does absolutely rely on the person admitting and confronting what they've done. But they also have an incentive to do that because the alternative is hard time. I think sometimes people go into it thinking it's the easy way out (which it sort of isn't), but then they actually get changed.Still, I was mostly joking. I'm envisioning Trump knocking on every door in New York at least... 😂😂

@llewelly They might think it's too silly, but I don't see why only Trump should get to raise money off of this media circus. People who have never thought about what the quality of life is like in prison are maybe thinking about it now. It's sad this is what it takes for that to happen. But ... what does it say that everyone agrees that prisons are too dangerous for an important person to even enter? What have we created exactly?
