I was very dismissive of AI music until recently, all I heard was pop slop and five years ago the state of the art was just very noisy experiments with little structure, which were interesting nonethelessstill, last week I heard a generated song where the lyrics were a real raw rant from chat messages about struggling with Java libraries for an entire week, instrumentally set to a very misanthropic sounding rap and it blew me away a little. the curiosity prevailed, I signed up and tried feeding it a few copypastas I had on hand, with very satisfactory results. maybe it was because the longform text made it less boring, maybe I just picked the right genres and descriptors (specifically "90s indie folk rock" and "00s rap rock"), maybe it just sounds better to me when it is Slovak (and it pronounces it surprisingly well, at least on native words) but still, pretty good for my standardsas the experiments went on, I found myself fiddling with the structure a little - like stretching it out and arranging the blocks of text in a way I would actually like the song to flow, duplicating some lines, adding tags like [Calm acoustic intro], [Monumental chorus], [Breakdown] and so on. the tags are not always followed, but most of the time they at least influence the structure of song in some way, so it kind of worksthat's about as far as the generation gets in terms of user control. over time it started to become a little bit frustrating, my ideas got more and more specific and it became nigh impossible to force the AI to follow them. some of them probably even can't be verbalized in a way that the AI would understand, and at that point it would be more straightforward if I actually attempted to make the music myselfthat's when it struck me - maybe generating music could be a gateway to making actual music on your own. when you outgrow the limits, you're already kind of interested to pick it up yourself. maybe there could eventually be a middle ground, where you sketch musical ideas in a crude editor and let the AI work with that, sort of like how image models can rework provided images in a style you want. perhaps you could lay down some tracks and ask the AI to provide additional instrumentation or vocals on top. I think that if you're still honest about using AI and the licensing will allow it, it's not a terrible idea. maybe it's even inevitablein my case, I'm just itching to start making music again when I sort out my life a little. maybe I should revive my SoundCloud, flesh out some noob sketches I made in the last few years and slowly dump them there. if I could get a proper guitar interface set up, that would be even better

@fluffy sure, here's a few! sorted in the order I like them inexhibit 1: small compilation of DM rants from a friend. gets a bit personal at some points but 99% of people will not understand anything anyway. aggresive and anthemic, I love itexhibit 2: you will never be a real Hungarian, you don't know the Hungarian language, you don't have a Hungarian citizenship etc. the melancholic tone feels fitting given the themes of despair and suicideexhibit 3: every message I ever posted on this Discord server is satire, in a case of a federal investigation, I don't condone any of the opinions etc. really reminds me of a specific local radio rock band famous in the 00sexhibit 4: localized Navy Seals copypasta. here's a good example of not following instructions, because there was a clear [End] roughly after 2:15 and instead it cooked up two more outros

Nakoniec to bude príliš ťažké zniesť - kúpiš si lano, uviažeš si slučku, dáš si ju okolo krku a ponoríš sa do studenej priepasti. Tvojim rodičom to zlomí srdce, ale uľaví sa im lebo už nebudú musieť žiť s tak neznesiteľnou hanbou a sklamaním. Na hrobe budeš mať náhrobný kameň s tvojím slovenským menom a každý okoloidúci bude po zvyšok večnosti vedieť, že tam je pochovaný Slovák.
