@judgedread I've never read this series, and couldn't find this reference within tvtropes quickly enough...Skroderiders and Skrodes...Directly related to a question I put forth about a year ago or so. If the Soul interacts with the Mind, which controls the Body, as a User interacts with the OS, which controls the Hardware... could a malicious outsider or virus take control of the Mind leaving the Soul helpless but completely aware? Would then Demonic Possession leave the Possessed observing everything he was doing with shame and outrage?

You might be interested in reading A Geography of Consciousness by William Arkle. He addresses tsomething similar to what you're talking about in Chapter 4, called 'Circuits', and it's a bit much to try and summarize but the idea is that false personalities get created in response to events and can wrest control away from the Soul, and the Soul may retreat in response to protect itself, handing over further control.

@judgedread You're probably right. I just enjoy the idea of seeing that asshole getting worked up about it and people writing hand wringing articles about it. I like seeing them afraid, I like seeing them angry, I like seeing them flustered, even when it doesn't accomplish anything else substantive.
