Wages are a function of supply and demand - so if stockholders want to push them down, the only way they can do that is to flood the market with laborers, like for example, immigrants.Rents, likewise, are a function of supply and demand. If there are more apartments than people, you can ask whatever rent you want but you'll just have an empty apartment. The ONLY way to get the rents up is to flood the market with renters, like, for example, immigrants.Imagine building your whole identity around "fighting the rich", but being so dumb that you end up doing their bidding.

@cjd @antifaintl Look: restrictions to immigration require legislation and law enforcement, right? So why would any person with good intentions use those tools against some poor migrants instead of using them against landlords and stockholders?

What makes you think politicians have "good intentions" ?The intentions of politicians are to take care of the people who get them the votes - at the cost of the people who don't understand how they're getting screwed.Landlords and stockholders funnel money through PACs to pay politicians who make the campaign ads that get you to vote for them - so they can let in immigrants who are willing to accept slave conditions and give every penny they earn to pay rent, thus soaking up all of the available jobs and rental apartments.Now your rent goes up and your salary goes down because there are no more available apartments to move to and no more jobs you can apply for.You grumble about the landlords and stockholders but They Don't Care. You voted for their guy, you're the sucker, better luck next time.P.S. Don't think that I'm saying Trump or whoever is "different", this game is universal, the only question is whether you're playing or getting played.
