       @stux I guess the statement made with this photo would be lost if they put an Apple laptop newer than 4 years atop the pile and/or showed the other sides.Newest laptops have more ports than the top model, and the bottom models shown here had optical drives on the right side, so you’re seeing *all* the ports on them, while the top model has ports on both sides. Have we lost dedicated ports in absolute terms, yes. Did that port shaving go too far, also yes. But the models the last few years have stuck a very good balance IMO.

       @stux Yes! And one of those ports is committed to the power cord. Also notice the 4 port is negligibly thicker than the 2. I miss the USB port for peripherals. I have a 2nd monitor using the 2nd port, so I can’t also add a hub for peripherals because the hub isn’t powerful enough to run my large monitor. I hate it!

       @stux Firewire..What a great system it was.  Same transfer rate in both directions and could happily sit at full-speed for as long as it took.  Fantastic.

       @stux I'm surprised they still add ports at all.I figure eventually they'll switch to a ports hub which works through wifi, which costs extra.
