       @wjmaggos @mmoshow @Dhowjen @ryan Well no. In no sense would Democracy be an acceptable term to describe the US political system. The existence of the constitution closes the debate. One could argue that Democracy has taken on a second meaning or connotation, but as defined, the US is not a Democracy, but rather a representative republic. I think we could at least agree on this.

       @nam @mmoshow @Dhowjen @ryan generally: if the power rests with the people, it's a democracy. if we elect representatives, it's also a republic. our constitution can be changed if enough people agree.your clip was talking about Plato, not Pluto as you kept saying. and while I love that you took some guy's interpretation of one of my people as the final word, much more was "figured out" later during the Enlightenment.you want simple. simple sells. but that's not honest.
