One more reason, why I still use #ProtonMail Bridge with #Thunderbird over the ProtonMail app: search. The app claims to be able to search the content, but it already struggles with the sender name. @protonprivacy

For example, I search for the sender "Foo-Electronics" in my mailbox and the app finds nothing when I search for "Foo", no matter if I enter the word in the general search box or the sender name box. Meanwhile, #Thunderbird works as expected and finds the message. @protonprivacy #ProtonMail

@lx Hi! Can you let us know if you've only observed this with this particular sender, or with several senders in general (even those without special characters like hyphens)? Also, are you referring to the Proton Mail web app, desktop app, mobile app?

@protonprivacy So far I couldn't reproduce it for any other sender. The sender address also contains the search term (info@foo-electronics.tld). Also, searching for the exact e-mail address doesn't make the messages show up either. Is maybe the search index broken or missing these messages for some reason? Can I reindex all messages?I'm referring to the desktop app for Mac, but it's the same on iOS and the web app.

@lx If you copy the address from your contacts and search by entering the email address in the search bar, or alternatively, in the 'Sender' field in the additional filters, do you get the expected results? Can you also make sure that the filter for the search is set to 'All Mail' to see if this makes a difference? This is not likely to be related to the local search index if you're searching for Sender, rather than email body content.

@protonprivacy Now I am bit stumped...I searched for the exact e-mail address (which is not in my contacts) and it's as described before. However, it seems that the email is not actually available to Thunderbird either, even though it's still in the search index there. The email does exist, as I recognize the preview text that is shown in the search result in Thunderbird. One of the search results is a sent message to the same contact, that is absent too (and I never delete sent messages).

@protonprivacy Is Thunderbird deleting some of my emails? 🤔
