I had the eusocial cat dream again. Perhaps it is better described as a reoccurring nightmare! Basically everyone had these cat colonies— but the cats were super intelligent— on the colony level and manipulating global politics. What’s your reoccurring dream?

@dnavinci Sounds like one of the “old ones” is trying to reach out to you through the vast expanse of geological time and space. . .

@FenTiger you don’t understand about Pica, and what ascendant hyper intelligent cats lead by her would mean for all of us. 😫

@futurebird@dnavinci I have had this vague science fiction idea of eusocial intelligent trilobites causing the end Permian extinction

@futurebird I sometimes dream of visiting a strange nonexistent amusement park in Central Virginia full of rusty old steel roller coasters themed to different species of dinosaurs.I suspect these are inspired by an actual janky old coaster in Japan (I am actually in Japan now but visiting this aging park would be a hard sell for my traveling companions).

@futurebird Been a while… For years, would occasionally dream I could run, jump, tuck up my legs and fly low over water. Like in a go-cart, but no cart. Just tummy muscles, and skim over lakes, the ocean…Then one day, for real, I saw a toddler walking between his parents. Each held a hand, and as they came to a little puddle in the sidewalk, they both lifted him up by the arm they held. Kid tucked up his legs, and “flew” over that little bit of water! So I realized it was a very early memory!

@futurebird I used to have social media dreams a lot. I wasn't in a body, it was just the screen I saw. A very vivid one was someone hacking into my facebook account, posting something offensive and then I saw all my rl and online friends unfriending or blocking me in realtime and lots and lots of pissed off messages coming in. And I could just watch it happen. I had "screen dreams" like that a lot, they kind of stopped when I stopped using FB and Twitter.

@futurebird I have several. I have returned to my previous career but not quit my current job. I have gone back to school for either grad school or a second degree but keep failing classes because I stop attending and can’t do all the make-up work. I am late for a flight, or I get on the flight but we keep hitting things, not gaining altitude, or sometimes crash into water. Lately it’s in Russia and I’m trying to make it to the border.

@futurebird I don’t have recurring dreams so much as recurring themes - one is the “great journey” theme, where I’m travelling far, crossing all kinds of terrain, meeting lots of people, with some kind of purpose. I never get there, though. The other is floating/flying dreams - I have the ability to levitate and swoop around. I usually start this part of the dream by having trouble remembering how to do it, and then just letting it happen through force of will… There’s a little bit of a Douglas Adams-ish “falling and missing the ground” feel to it, too. When I was very young, I had a peculiar nightmare a few times - nothing but a long, straight rope, floating in a black void, rotating around its centre. It was accompanied by a sense of dread that would wake me up every time. So strange.

@futurebird I used to have a recurring -sort of- nightmare.I'd walk through some sliding doors and enter a room with concrete walls and big windows. The room was more like a curved corridor. In fact, it was a crescent. I'd always walk to the left from the sliding doors and find the corridor getting narrower and narrower and the ceiling lower. In 1976 I was 4 and we were living in Toronto. My grandparents visited and my mom told them to not take me to the top level of the CN Tower ...

@futurebird lost in my grandmother's house. Off of every room there's another room or staircase or hallway.

@futurebird Fortunately, ants are nothing like this and you don't need to worry about them so much.
