Anyone used the tiny Seeed Studio #Raspberypi 2040 boards? I'm assuming there are no surprises or special software versions?

@vik #xiao #rp2040 is limited on pinouts. Programming with arduino ide is supported as is micropython, go, rust https://fabacademy.org/2024/labs/waag/students/leo-kuipers/weekly-assignments/06_embedded-programming/06_embedded-programming/#waag-session-group-assignment

@henk My plan is to just load standard #CircuitPython onto it from another project.

@vik @henk CircuitPython works just fine on the Xiao RP2040 (you can even install it on the OG Xiao but the RP2040 Xiao is superior in every way!)

@andy_warbIs that just the stock CircuitPython install? I saw that Seeed have a XIAO binary. Really have to get one and try it, but no local outlets.@henk

@vik @henk The board definition for the xiao s3 (and xiao sense) is not merged in circuitpython, because they didn't provide a vid/pid, the pull request with the code is here: https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/pull/9118

@vik @andy_warb @henk I recommend using the official circuitpython binary from https://circuitpython.org/board/seeeduino_xiao_rp2040/

@deshipu @andy_warb @henk Right, so I have to test that the adafruit_hid library is going to work with that. Basically I have to make sure that the Quirkey keyboard code https://github.com/VikOlliver/Quirkey runs on The Xiao RP2040 before I turn up in Mexico - and we have no local supplier.

@vik @deshipu @henk I built a number of macropads using the OG Xiao and CircuitPython and full keyboards using the RP2040. If you are planning on building anything that remotely resembles a keyboard I recommend looking at KMK (http://kmkfw.io) and the new POG app (https://pog.heaper.de) which makes the whole affair practically drag and drop!

@andy_warb @deshipu @henk It's a 6-key chorded microwriter system, not a standard keyboard type at all (though it does have a standard chording system). I wrote the original MS-DOS drivers way back! The code is pretty stable :)

@andy_warbI've reached out to #Seeed Studios to see if they can spare one to test. I'll donate it as a built-up keyboard at the #Mexico #FabLab conference if they do. @deshipu @henk
