I wonder if I can go google-less by the end of this decade....

Let's see, the two main aspects are my personal gmail and my android phone. Some other minor things, like images, documents, sms, cloud-based remote sensing work, python notebooks, can all be exported or refactored.Gmail - find any and all subscriptions, and change them to another email accountAndroid - I'm lost, iPhone is just as bad, no other viable alternative.should I focus on risk/exposure mitigation then?

Alternative to Gmail, I guess I can use ProtonMail or ilk. I don't see myself setting up and maintaining my own email/domain whatever, and the pricing is reasonable. Yet this is still a subscription, that may/will/inevitably change over time, and storage will be an issue.

And then there's the overhead of 'it just works' in the google ecosystem, but I guess that's where the securities fail. How much extra work is it to have a different system in place, one which can be simple, yet actually safe and secure?

@hareldan Android is pretty much the only thing that makes me keep a Google account now. GrapheneOS seems to be usable enough to be a proper alternative. Let's see!
