@HSTG @bonifartius Yeah well, that is not so clear cut anymore. Came down to city blocks. The periphery had flushed streets and no pipes. Some of these pipes were there for centuries. Plastic pipes are rated for 25-30 year. Oh my...

@CapitalB @HSTG lead pipes aren't as problematic as they are made out to be if you don't have acidic water killing the passivation. weren't they continuous flow anyway?drinking wine from leaden cups is a worse idea.

@torparskytt an own well certainly is a nice thing.otoh, the water quality is pretty good here. can't complain about that in general. it's one of things which still work pretty well here in germany. this water meter though..

@bonifartius Funny that; I have sold and installed such meters for a customer, after a €10,000 leak a year ago. A leak that I personally detected, because I happened to go to the car wash system that no one ever checks in on.Personally; Also have two wells of my own, no meter... Downside is during snow melting season, the ground doesn't filter very well and quality becomes really poor.@torparskytt

@bonifartius Used to be a very natural "coffin system" under ground on a slope. But ~2010 the Greens demanded new technology, basically a giant filter that is emptied every 24 months made of clay from Poland.System is scaled to handle 12-15 people household, since regulation stipulates "this many square meters = this many people", although we are only 2 people. Insantity!Don't mention the Green party to my 95 year old mother, she gets furious...@torparskytt

@niclas @torparskytt oh my, that actually sounds more ridiculous than what's required in germany. here you need to convert old septic tanks into a "small water treatment" plant by adding an airification compressor and rig to the tank and have a very simple check done every half year.knock on wood it stays this way..
