Watch this video about what Stalinism is and how it was a complete betrayal of the Russian Revolution. https://youtu.be/juii-y95Ut4?si=7R7r2vbqYDYkcxG8

@Radical_EgoCom Stalin literally have appealed to nationalism and made a cult of personality. He had concentration camps similar to Hitler's.

@nlupo You basically summarized why Stalinism sucks in 19 words.

@Radical_EgoCom Thanks to Stalin and the Soviet people you're not speaking German right now. By demonizing Stalin you are helping anticommunists equalize fascism and communism (which is nonsense).

@YuriBH 1/2 You're highlighting a positive thing that Stalinism achieved while disregarding the legitimate criticisms and the negative consequences associated with it. I would suggest watching the video in addition to doing independent research on the criticisms of Stalinism.

@YuriBH 2/2 Also, Stalin doesn't represent all of communism. Criticizing him isn't "helping anti-communists equate fascism with communism." If anything, Stalin's consistent association with communism makes it much easier for anti-communists to compare fascism with communism given how fascistic Stalin was.

@Radical_EgoCom I am not disregarding criticism, I'm talking about demonization. To compare Stalin with Hitler, for example. It is counterproductive. To say Stalin was "fascistic" (or the Soviet Union) is just plain wrong. Fascism is very connected with capitalism. Anyway, I guess you should analyse Stalin in a more historical perspective. For example, Churchill was a way worse character than him, but nobody calls out a denouncement of "Churchilism".

@Radical_EgoCom My main criticism of the speaker's ideas is, that the bloated burocracy was inevitable during the time of Lenin. Many anarchists were persecuted and killed, during his time. Much more decentralized movements like the Makhnovschina were literally betrayed. That was just side effect of Lenin taking the full control in his own hands in the name of fostering the new revolutionary thinking. He was criticised by many prominent anarchist for that.

@nlupo You're right, and that's one of the reasons I'm not a Trotskyist, their reliance on a vanguard party and centralization.
