Historians were wrong yet again. They doubted Homer's account and said the Mycenaeans used just leather armor. Even after they found an intact armor in a grave.

@Zettour That armor does look pretty effective , covers the groin and thighs, and the neck and face . Head is protected by the helmet ,thats shaped to turn a direct hit into a glancing one also I bet these guys were taxied to the front via chariot .

@troubledturtle @Zettour Arsenical bronze, which was very common back then and close to mild steel in mechanical properties. Most modern bronzes are low in arsenic or none at all and many are much softer than AB.

@Reluctant_Weeb They said it was too heavy to fight in and you would overheat so was just ceremonial or a display piece. Turns out it works just fine if you're physically fit.

@Zettour @Reluctant_Weeb "The warriors would get too hot!"yeah and if they didn't fight effectively they'd be killed or enslaved so maybe they were willing to sweat a little(force all historians to lift their own body weight before they can write about ancient warfare)

@mkultra @Zettour People used to get branded as "fringe lunatics" and thrown into sanitariums by the historical societies and archeology clubs in the 18th and 19th century for suggesting that ancient Egypt existed and that pyramids were ever a thing.Despite numerous firsthand accounts by Roman and Greek texts. Even the Celts had dealings with ancient Egypt at one point. All of these records were meaningless in the eyes of academics.
