I think a loose interpretation is important in the sense that human authors (with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) were trying to describe the miraculous, things beyond their comprehension. I personally don’t think of God as lying to us by creating the light 6k or 10k light years away for young earth to be consistent with observations. Likewise with biological relationships. I put scripture over science, though I have no particular reason to doubt the science in either physics or biology. it is this way because it was made this way. this is another leap of faith thing, but nowhere near as essential as the resurrection.

As the KSV was largely translated from the Vulgate which was itself translated from the Masoretic texts and not from the Septuagint, the KSV renders the word "poisoner" to "witch", which is understandable given the Latin word is the same.But again, the point for traditional/Sedevacantist Catholics is the previously stated one that if the book were the important part, then Christ would have written it. Activation Energy was such an unmistakable signature of God on existence itself that I decided to renounce my previous agnosticism and to delve deeply into religion. I studied myself into (what I consider to be) the truth of the sedevacantist Catholic position eventually, though I did consider many other possible religious explanations whilst on that journey - certainly to include the issue of biblical accuracy, etc.Once I'd arrived at what I consider to be the truth, I began to practice it rather than to endlessly study it. As such, I've not really kept up with studying other translations etc. As I said, I do indeed find such matters interesting from a scholarly/academic point of view, but find more profit in investing my limited reading time in the Doctors of the Church.That said, I find the Thomson translation to be easily read even for speakers of the rapidly degenerating North American ebonicized version of English, and as such, haven't really considered other versions.
