       @peter I think it is due to patents. One company has a strong patent on eink and is blocking a lot of development.

       @ebooksyearn @h4890 there are actually a number of Chinese companies doing e-ink, I just poked around earlier, and yeah. there are **tons** of different e-imo displays on AliExpress, for example.

       @peter @h4890 I want a sub-$50 e-ink tablet I can hang on the wall in the kitchen for recipes. It needs basic internet (looking up recipe substitutions if I'm missing something or reminding me dry to cooked ratios or whatever). I hate having to wake up my phone a dozen times especially if I have stuff on my hands
