I know Apple is still Apple but it presents itself as a company that's for privacy-ish and security so I really wonder what they have to say about this :apple_inc:

@stux trusting any megacorp with your personal data is insanity

@cyrus Correct but i was wondering about that DB indeed ๐ Why is it still there to begin with, companies like Apple should have that correct in place right

@stux Apple presents themselves this way, but Apple products are just as noisy, just as leaky, as anyone else's, they just have slicker marketing

@sortius Yes and no! ๐ For example finding an exploit to create a jailbreak has almost become impossible these days :amaze: In the past they did patch it quite fast oftenly but nowadays it's reasonable tight

@stux hehehe, they secured the OS from jailbreaking, unfortunately that isn't reflected as strongly in their user data security ๐ Whether it's Android or iOS, Windows or MacOS, the people making the OS are stealing our data all day, every day. It's bound to leak, and end up with "bugs" like these photos being raised from the dead

@stux apple marketing is their most valuable product. it's been 15 or so years since we learned facebook didn't delete photos, they just removed your access to them. I learned last week there are over 300 data centers in the northern Virginia area of the US alone. 300 in one small area of the US. nothing is being deleted. any fines a government issues on the matter is just the cost of doing business.

@stux but it makes me wonder how you delete something in the cloud that is probably backed up multiple times?

@stux there is confirmation that they collaborated with the PRISM program in the past. Reformed offenders? Maybe. But also let's not forget that #privacywashing is a very good marketing and PR enabler. I personally still don't trust them.

@stux It happened to my iPhone and my iPad. I noticed it because my albums are kept almost empty. I had always assumed iPhones used some type of secure delete, but clearly not.
