Yesterday I received an email from a person & address with whom I have not corresponded before. It included about ten people in the To: field, about a 2/3 mix of people I didn't know to 1/3 people I did. Seemed innocuous enough, invitation to a party; there was a call for urgency, no date mentioned in the email body, and a PDF attachment. Don't open the attachment, right? Classic, textbook phishing, right? So I responded and asked about timing.

@gnomon I had to make an iCloud account so that I could open an iCloud note containing a single line of text inviting me to a birthday party. 😅

Most days I feel like I can blend in OK with normal humans, but this time I was clearly the aliebn. Every other person just clicked straight through to the PDF. (Which I had to switch machines to read since my email client is mu4e running via SSH in a terminal.)Yep, it was just a nicely laid out invitation. Some days it does not pay to be an overly paranoid professional computer toucher.(But come on, who sends a PDF attachment and omits the crucial datum from the email body?!? :psyduck: )
