Went to a bookstore this weekend. I didn’t have anything in mind, but knowing myself, I knew I would leave with a book.I came across Phillip K. Dick’s amazing “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” I actually pulled it and had it in hand ready to buy, but kept browsing.#Bookstodon #JamesBaldwin #CivilRights #Books… (1/4)

As I kept browsing I came across George Orwell’s cautionary story “1984” also pulled it, debated for a while over which book to get and decided to stick with Dick’s novel, but I kept browsing. (2/4)

I had a thought, but living in the south, in a private bookstore I doubted that they would have the book, and to my pleasant surprise, they had it: James Baldwin’s collections of essays “Nobody Knows My Name: More Notes From a Native Son” without a second thought I placed Dick’s novel down and immediately bought it.If MLK and Malcolm X were the framers of the Civil Rights, to me, James Baldwin was its writer. I can’t wait to dive into this book. (3/4)

If you want to fall in love with James Baldwin, here’s the video I was shown that led me to deep dive into his works: https://youtu.be/oFeoS41xe7w?si=rg5FvYcWimBknTQJ (4/4)
